NTT Ltd. has announced its Global Data Centers division in EMEA has started the construction of its first data centre in the Spanish market in Madrid.

The company revealed that the facility will have 3,600 sqm and 6MW of capacity for its clients. The new build is set to offer colocation services for wholesale and retail clients, supporting  hybrid IT solutions. The data centre is scheduled to go live in Q3 2021.

The site will offer physical and technical data centre infrastructure, supported by 2N UPS systems and cooling systems.

“Madrid is the largest data centre hub in Spain and a European gateway to the world,” said Florian Winkler, CEO of the Global Data Centers EMEA division of NTT Ltd.

“Three new submarine cables connecting USA, Latin America and North Africa, make Spain a very important communications hub on the global connectivity landscape.

“Connectivity, paired with local and global demand from clients, means Madrid is an important location for NTT to invest and launch a major interconnected data centre in Madrid.”

The Madrid data centre is being constructed on NTT’s 12,516 sqm site at Európolis Business and Technology Park, in the municipality of Las Rozas, and is located 20 km northwest of the city of Madrid itself.

Araceli Pedraza, Country Managing Director of NTT Ltd. in Spain added, "This new data centre is a clear commitment of the group to the Spanish market and will undoubtedly contribute to the positioning of NTT Spain as a digital hub for Southern Europe.

“Our clients will have access to a wide portfolio of technological solutions, ranging from the data centre, its connectivity and network infrastructure to hybrid cloud solutions (public and private), connection to the main hyperscalers and end-to-end managed services, especially for local and global IT environments.

“NTT Ltd. has a great experience in building technologically advanced data centres with high redundancy, such as the one being built in Madrid.”
