Cloud communications company Sinch AB (publ) has completed the acquisition of SAP Digital Interconnect, a unit within SAP.

Closing of the transaction follows the announcement on May 5, 2020, that Sinch had entered into a definitive agreement to acquire SAP Digital Interconnect.

SAP Digital Interconnect offers cloud communications services and serves over 1,500 enterprise customers worldwide.

The company said that their customer base includes many of the world’s most highly valued companies, including tech companies, banks, payment gateways, retailers and mobile operators.

Headquartered in San Ramon, California, the business has around 330 employees in 20 countries.

“I’m excited to close this landmark transaction. Not only do we add to our scale and profitability; we are also bringing together some of the best talents in the industry,” said Oscar Werner, Sinch CEO.

With the transaction closed, Sinch also welcomed Russ Green, currently General Manager of Technology and Communications Products at SAP Digital Interconnect, to the Sinch senior management team.

In a new role as Chief Service Officer, Green will take ownership of Sinch’s end-to-end service delivery, supporting customers and enabling growth through the company’s tools and its processes.

Before joining SAP, Green held executive positions in product management and development at two start-up companies in data management and mobile communications.

Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, Sinch is a software provider to mobile operators, and its platform powers business-critical communications for many of the world’s largest companies.

When the company first made the announcement in May, Thomas Saueressig, member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, responsible for SAP Product Engineering said, “SAP Digital Interconnect is a leader in its area showing profitable growth and reaching 99% of the world’s mobile subscribers.

“Looking at Sinch’s innovation and investment strategy in the area of cloud communication platforms, we welcome them as the new owner of SDI. Sinch is perfectly positioned to unleash further growth potential we see in SDI.”
