NetIX adds two new exchanges to network

NetIX has added two new Internet Exchanges to its network, in strategic locations in Europe and the US.

Speed-IX in Amsterdam and FL-IX in Florida are intended to provide “better connectivity and peering routes” to members and strengthen the Global Internet Exchange (GIX) solution.

They add to NetIX’s global ecosystem, which it said is one of the most connected networks offering unparalleled connectivity.

“Broadening our IXP portfolio is great for our members and our GIX solution,” said Dean Belev (pictured), VP of services at NetIX.

“We want to help networks of all sizes get the most from their connectivity, and a NetIX port with GIX enabled is the quickest and easiest way to do this. These new additions give our network a very nice boost and  now enables access to more than 7,800 ASNs directly,” Belev continued.

NetIX said “anyone can benefit” from the GIX solution if combined with NetIX Tunnelling over Internet service, because a network no longer has to be present in a mutual data centre facility. Networks can access the NetIX platform via the public internet allowing for a much easier and more cost-effective peering solution.
