Nokia’s VP and market unit leader for the Nordics, Baltics, and Benelux has been appointed president of European trade association DIGITALEUROPE.

Hilary Mine was elected by the general assembly to be the first female president since the organisation’s 1999 launch. Her initial term is two years and she can stand for re-election for a second term.

Julian David, CEO of techUK was re-elected as vice-president for his second two-year term. In total, there were 12 new or re-elected executive board members and the new board will hold its first meeting in September.

Mine said: “It is a privilege and honour to serve such an important and respected European trade association as president. I thank the European digital technology community for their trust and support.”

The new executive board is composed of 40% women, double the 20% representation seen in the last election cycle. Membership of the association is equally divided to represent both corporates and national trade associations.

Director-general of DIGITALEUROPE, Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl said: “Congratulations to new president, Hilary Mine. I very much look forward to working with her and the new executive board elected today. I’m especially proud that our association has elected its first female president and we have doubled the amount of women on the executive board.

“These elections have been the most hotly contested in years. I wish to thank all those who served DIGITALEUROPE so well over the last few years and all those that took the time to run for election.”

Mine will chair the executive board for two years, renewable for another two-year term. David will be in post for another two years.
