Stc confirmed that its participation in the 2Africa international submarine cable project will help achieve the Saudi Vision 2030 goal of establishing a developed digital infrastructure to achieve digital transformation. 2Africa is the first project of its kind to directly link East Africa and Europe, and it will meet the needs of cloud service providers in the Kingdom. stc’s terrestrial and cross-border networks will connect 2Africa’s cable to all countries neighboring Saudi Arabia.

stc group CEO Nasser Al-Nasser said: the project reflects the company’s commitment to enable digital transformation and build a digital society. 2Africa will further strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a regional leader in the digital field by delivering a high capacity ground path to Europe.

stc is a founding member of 2Africa, along with eight international operators and companies, namely Facebook, MTN Global Connect, Telecom Egypt, Vodafone, China Mobile International, and WIOCC.

“The 2Africa cable will be integrated into stc’s MENA Gateway (MG1) datacentre in Jeddah, enabling customers to access our extensive international content and extend their regional connectivity through stc terrestrial geo-mesh network that extends to all neighboring countries”.
