Sparkle has enhanced its point of presence (PoP) at Namex, in Rome, giving its customers remote peering capabilities through its Virtual NAP service.

The news follows the launch of the PoP earlier this month as Sparkle aims to meet the increasing connectivity needs of the city and of its business ecosystem.

Based at Namex - a neutral, not for profit Internet exchange and interconnection point - Sparkle’s PoP delivers its global IP Transit service Seabone and its City2City and Ethernet Suite transport solutions to national and international ISPs, content providers and network operators as well as to the networks already connected at Namex.

As a result of the enhanced capabilities, Sparkle is now able to offer also Virtual NAP solutions to customers wishing to access Namex peering community without having to implement and manage a proprietary infrastructure or bearing the costs of colocation.

In related news, at the start of the month, Sparkle expanded its reach in Brazil with a new PoP in Salvador.

The new location adds to the ten existing points of presence the company has in the country specifically in Sao Paulo, Rio De Janeiro and Fortaleza.

All of which strengthens the performance of Sparkle’s global IP Transit service Seabone by lowering latency and improving traffic routing capabilities within Brazil and across the Americas.
