Capacity Media looks at ten of the most interesting current SD-WAN project collaborations to keep an eye on.

GlobalConnect | Versa Networks

GlobalConnect and Versa Networks entered into a SD-WAN partnership last year. Under the terms of the collaboration, Versa’s Secure Cloud IP architecture, which is a next-generation software platform that delivers integrated cloud, networking and security services, accelerated the productivity of GlobalConnect’s 18,000sqm of data centre space and more than 42,000km of optical fibre network. “With the Versa Networks partnership, GlobalConnect aims to efficiently and securely manage more features with a higher level of flexibility,” said Sebastian Vad Lorentzen, head of SD-WAN engineering at GlobalConnect.

CMC Networks | Enea

CMC Networks chose Enea’s NFV Access as the software platform for its second-generation SD-WAN solution. “We are very proud that CMC Networks chose Enea as their uCPE software platform,” said Adrian Leufvén, SVP OS business unit at Enea. The Enea NFV Access is a virtualisation and management platform optimised for deployments on Universal Customer Premises Equipment (uCPE). It gives CMC Networks’ SD-WAN solution, CMC - Rapid Adaptive Network, a compact and open virtualisation layer, giving carriers and service providers the flexibility to bring their own Virtual Network Functions.

Omniclouds | Nuage Networks

Omniclouds has implemented Nuage Networks’ SD-WAN 2.0 solution to optimise cloud connectivity for enterprise customers across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. The collaboration will support enterprises in the region that are experiencing a shortage of native cloud service providers and difficulty reaching public cloud data centres. For its part Nuage Networks will build and operate its SD-WAN 2.0 network, enabling OmniCloud to connect enterprise customers over a large coverage area, connecting all key public cloud data centres with dedicated infrastructure.

Turkcell | Odine Solutions | Versa Networks

In the summer of 2019, Odine Solutions and Versa Networks successfully completed the deployment of a SD-WAN core in Turkcell’s network. The deployment, which represents Turkey’s first commercial SD-WAN solution for a Tier-1 operator, enables Turkcell’s corporate customers in the country with end-to-end software-defined and secure connectivity infrastructure-as-a-service. “We chose Odine Solutions and Versa Networks based on their expertise in network transformation. Our decision has been reinforced throughout the deployment by the speed, from testing to rollout,” said Gediz Sezgin, CTO at Turkcell.

BringCom | Versa Networks

Another launch on the African continent, BringCom selected Versa Networks’ SD-WAN solution across its network in East and West Africa. “The availability of Versa’s SD-WAN technology will be critical to organisations across industries looking to extend their network footprint with enhanced services,” said Fabrice Langreney, president and CEO of BringCom. By combining full multi-tenancy, multiple deployment options, zero-touch provisioning and a wide range of security functions, Versa’s SD-WAN solution enables providers to create a full suite of managed service offerings.

Fibrenoire | VeloCloud

Connectivity service provider Fibrenoire added the VMware SD-WAN solution by VeloCloud to its service offerings. The VMware SD-WAN solution enables businesses to securely support application growth in the cloud and increase network flexibility. In addition, it also provides them with greater agility in implementing and configuring branch offices across the network. “Fibrenoire is proud to partner with VMware,” said Alexis Bourson, general manager of sales marketing at Fibrenoire. “This offer reinforces our commitment to increasing the performance of businesses by optimising their telecommunications infrastructure.”

DYXnet | VMware

DYXnet Group, a carrier-neutral network service provider in Greater China, partnered with VMware to launch a SD-WAN service in April of 2019. It gives enterprises a cost-effective carrier-grade network capability in addition to a number of operational benefits. “Our SD-WAN solution provides an extraordinary user experience, while facilitating a reduction in a client’s network costs of up to 50%,” said Wing-Dar Ker, CEO of DYXnet Group. “We are now pleased to report that VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud uplifts our carrier-grade network to an exceptional level.”

Braskem | Braskem

Braskem, a thermoplastics resins producer in the Americas, chose CenturyLink to deliver it a global SD-WAN network. The SD-WAN network will go through more than 130 balanced MPLS

and dedicated internet links with a connection to the private cloud through CenturyLink Cloud Connect Solutions. “With CenturyLink’s SD-WAN solution, Braskem now has the flexibility to leverage diverse network resources and provide faster user access to business applications, whether in the public cloud or on-premise,” said André Oliveira, senior infrastructure operations manager for Braskem.

Telia Norway | Nuage Networks

Telia Norway took its first step into the enterprise services space earlier this year with the launch of its SD-WAN offering. Partnering with Nokia Nuage Networks, Telia customers can build their network on top of cost-efficient connections, or to choose VPN lines with guaranteed bandwidth and end-to-end quality parameters. “We are happy to announce the start of the new generation datacom services in the enterprise market,” said Jon Christian Hillestad, head of enterprise in Telia Norway. “This solution represents a whole new way of producing datacom services.”

GTT |  Fortinet

Adding to its existing collaboration with VeloCloud Networks, GTT recently added Fortinet Secure SD-WAN as a technology option on its network. “Our broad portfolio of SD-WAN service options, that now includes Fortinet, ensures that clients can run their applications with superior security, performance and reliability,” said Rick Calder, GTT’s president and CEO. “The combination of GTT’s Tier 1 global IP network and Fortinet secure SD-WAN enables high-performing and differentiated services for GTT clients worldwide,” said John Maddison, Fortinet’s senior vice president of products and chief marketing officer.
