Vodafone has won an exclusive contract to provide voice and data services to public sector organisations across Scotland, as part of the Scottish government’s single supplier framework for mobile voice and data services.

The framework will see Vodafone provide services to central government, local authorities, universities and colleges, the third sector and other public sector bodies, although the Scottish NHS, which has its own arrangements, is not included on the list.

The scope of work includes voice and SMS; data services; mobile device management; managed service; device disposal; device insurance; mobile device management; shared data; international calls and roaming; lone and remote worker services; 5G services; mobile accessories; WiFi calling; APN services; business mobility apps; professional services and mobile IoT.

Fixed telephony services and WAN connectivity are excluded from provisions.

Vodafone’s contract commenced on 17 March 2020 and will run until 16 March 2022, with the option for a further 12-month extension.

Announcing its win, Vodafone said public sector organisations in Scotland “will benefit from highly competitive prices and access to Vodafone’s market-leading products and services”.

Anne Sheehan, director, Vodafone Business UK said: “This is brilliant news for Scotland. We know that easy access to services is a major priority for public sector organisations; and we look forward to working closely with the Scottish public sector to explore how we can best support them, particularly during today’s challenges. Our aim is to help Scotland in its ambition to be a world-leading digital nation.”
