Vodafone and Sunrise strike-up partnership agreement
Vodafone and Sunrise have entered into a new partnership agreement in Switzerland.
“We are delighted that Sunrise has decided to join our Partner Market network,” said Diego Massidda, chief executive of Vodafone Partner Markets. “We are excited about working with the team and being able to offer their customers access to our extensive range of innovative Enterprise products and services.”
Thanks to this new collaboration, Sunrise’s Enterprise customers will benefit from a range of Vodafone Business services, including mobile connectivity, roaming and central procurement. In the future both companies plan to expand their relationship to deliver fixed/mobile converged services to Enterprises across Europe and beyond, as well as leverage their combined 5G scale and leadership to ensure their customers can benefit from cutting-edge gigabit networks.

stc Bahrain launches 5G network with Huawei
stc Bahrain and Huawei have announced the launch of the next phase of its 5G network.
“Working with stc Bahrain to complete the largest 5G network in the kingdom marks an important milestone in the evolution of Bahrain’s telecommunications market,” said John Lu Yuedong, chief executive of Huawei Bahrain.
With a 50% market share it also positions stc Bahrain as the country’s biggest 5G network, offering service accessibility for enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) services and 5G home broadband services.
“Following the successful completion of the largest 5G network in partnership with Huawei, we are pleased to announce that we are enhancing our 5G broadband services,” said Nezar Banabeela, chief executive of stc Bahrain.
MTS launches mobile network in Antarctica
According to news agency PRIME, Russia’s Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) has installed a GSM mobile network in Antarctica, at the Russian expedition station Progress.
In a statement the company said: “MTS opened the base station in the framework of a joint project with the Russian Antarctic Expedition. A stable signal covers residential and work modules of station Progress, the aerodrome’s area and the bay where ships berth.”
In addition to MTS clients, the new network can be used by subscribers of international operators with whom the operator has roaming agreements.
iomart picks Silver Peak for managed SD-WAN
UK managed cloud service provider iomart has selected global SD-WAN provider Silver Peak to deliver managed SD-WAN services to its customers.

Great Plains Communications appoints Tony Thakur as new chief technology officer
Great Plains Communications (GPC) has named Tony Thakur as chief technology officer.
In his new role, Thakur will lead GPC’s technology vision and focus on expanding and enhancing its regional fibre network. In addition, he will introduce new innovative technologies to expand the company’s product offerings, focus on geographic network expansion and introduce automation to drive efficiencies.
