  1. Capacity launches the 2019 Power 100

    It should come as no surprise that the inaugural Power 100 power listing has claimed the top spot. Broken down into Carrier, Data Centre/IX, Disruptor and Comms Infra, these 100 men and women are considered the most influential in the wholesale telecoms industry. Not only are these individuals powerful in their own right, they are also innovators, critical thinkers and agents of change – pushing the conversation forward in some way or another.

  2. The winners of the 2019 Global Carrier Awards are announced!

    Announced back in October, the 15th annual Global Carrier Awards took place in London last night, bringing together over 420 members of the wider wholesale community celebrating the industry’s biggest achievements over the last 12 months. Hosted by Capacity Media CEO Rosalind Irving and Capacity Editor-in-Chief and head judge for the GCAs Jason McGee-Abe, at the indigo at The O2, the black-tie gala dinner was truly a night of celebration and distinction.

  3. Microsoft and Sony join cloud forces

    Making big news in the gaming and content-streaming space, Microsoft and Sony joined forces to develop future cloud solutions in Microsoft Azure. Under the memorandum of understanding, the gaming and technology goliaths have agreed to explore the use of current Microsoft Azure data centre-based solutions for Sony’s game and content-streaming services.

  5. The winners of the Global Women in Telco & Tech Awards revealed

    Championing the cause for diversity and inclusion, earlier this year Capacity launched its first Global Women in Telco and Tech Awards and Summit. 16 winners walked away with trophies that night, after a black-tie gala dinner. The Awards, which were judged by an independent panel of judges, included four categories; Disruptor, Projects & Initiatives, Spotlight & Profile and Special Recognition.

    BT Group’s CEO Philip Jansen unveiled plans to sell more than £100 million in telecoms infrastructure in Holland, as he attempts to simplify the company. Specifically towers and broadband cables that currently connect BT’s Global Services Dutch business customers.

  7. Nokia and Ericsson flat in infrastructure market as Huawei hits 29%, says Dell’Oro

    Seven telecoms equipment makers are responsible for 80% of worldwide sales to service providers, with Huawei well ahead of all the others. The Dell’Oro market research company lists the vendors in order of sales in 2018 as Huawei, Nokia, Ericsson, Cisco, ZTE, Ciena and Samsung, came out on top.

  8. ASN begins construction of $350m Southern Cross NEXT cable

    Making waves in the subsea cable space, the announcement by Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN) of the construction of its $350 million Southern Cross NEXT cable was a big read for our audience. Once complete, the 13,700km cable will have landing points in Australia, Samoa. Kiribati, the US, Tokelau, Fiji and New Zealand. A consortium of Spark New Zealand, Singtel Optus, Verizon and Telstra is building the system.
