Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX) has appointed Iris Vonk as its chief financial officer (CFO) and Mike Baron as its senior director sales & marketing.

“AMS-IX is continuously evolving to keep delivering and providing premium and high quality interconnection services to its members and customers,” said Peter van Burgel, CEO of AMS-IX. “The CFO and senior director sales & marketing positions play a pivotal role in our dynamic organisation. We are very glad to welcome Iris and Mike to our organisation as they both bring extensive knowledge and experience from their respective fields.”

Vonk (above left) enters the role with our 20 years’ experience in her field. She started her career in 1995 as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers and subsequently held several senior financial management positions in the media and entertainment industry in the Netherlands and the UK. Prior to joining AMS-IX, Iris worked for 5 years as the CFO at Platform 161 B.V, a demand-side platform for advertisers and agencies.

“AMS-IX operates in a rapidly changing environment and I look forward to work with a team of proud professionals and support them in delivering the company’s growth objectives,” said Vonk.

Baron (above right) has a technical software engineering and IT consultancy background, which bolsters this latest position in the information technology and technical infrastructure sphere. Baron held the position of director consulting services at CGI Group Inc before joining AMS-IX. In addition, he has also held several positions since 2004.

“It’s an exciting time to work for AMS-IX. The worlds of Business, IT and connectivity are merging rapidly. I am excited to start and execute the commercial part of the long-term strategy of AMS-IX,” added Baron.

Earlier this year, AMS-IX deployed Pluribus Networks’ Netvisor ONE operating system and Adaptive Cloud Fabric at its facility. The Pluribus solution was rolled out as well as Dell EMC Open Networking hardware as part of AMS-IX’s multi-site network modernisation project.
