Digital Bridge, the telecoms investment company led by Marc Ganzi, has appointed a former renewable energy and climate change advisor as principal on its team.

Geneviève Maltais-Boisvert (pictured) will focus on sourcing and managing investments for the Digital Colony Partners.

The group’s investments include data centres, network operators and tower companies. Earlier this year Ganzi told Capacity that the Digital Colony Partners fund had invested $4.1 billion, on top of existing investments of $11-$12 billion.

Planned future investments include Zayo, for which the Ganzi group is the preferred bidder – working with Swedish infrastructure investment fund EQT – with an offer of $14.3 billion.

In July Colony Capital and Digital Bridge Holdings said they are to merge, with Ganzi becoming CEO of both.

Most recently, Maltais-Boisvert served as director of infrastructure investments at PSP Investments, one of Canada’s largest pension investment managers, with over C$165 billion (US $125 billion) of assets under management.

Ganzi said: “Over the years I have known Geneviève, I have seen great value in her unique and strategic perspective on the industry. I am thrilled to welcome her to the firm.”

During her time at PSP, she helped deploy nearly C$2 billion across the infrastructure and energy sectors, with a focus on digital infrastructure.

Ganzi said: “Her experience and work on a variety of transactions across the global infrastructure sector will be invaluable as we continue to invest in companies that help meet the increasing demand for data.”

With degrees from McGill university in Montréal and INSEAD outside Paris, Maltais-Boisvert has worked as lead climate change and sustainability advisor at QGC, an Australian mining company aiming to convert coal seam gas into liquefied natural gas. She was an investment associate at Greencoat Capital, a UK-based private equity firm focused on renewable energy.

“This is one of the most exciting times there has ever been for wireless connectivity and digital infrastructure,” said Maltais-Boisvert. “Digital Bridge has a well-earned status as one of the world’s premiere digital infrastructure investment specialists. I am looking forward to contributing to the firm’s performance as an owner and operator of these assets as we continue to build out our portfolio.”
