H5 Data Centers confirms that Zayo is to provide connectivity to its San Antonio data centre at 100 Taylor Street in downtown San Antonio.

"Our San Antonio edge data centre serves a combination of international carriers, content distribution networks, ISPs and cloud services providers," said Josh Simms (pictured), founder and CEO of H5 Data Centers. "Zayo’s expansion to 100 Taylor St. will continue to build upon the established interconnection ecosystem."

The new connectivity including point of presence (PoP) will offer H5 customers access to Zayo’s growing metro fibre footprint across San Antonio and Austin to its international network.

“Zayo serves a growing list of technology, enterprises, education, healthcare and IT companies throughout San Antonio and Austin,” said Dennis Kyle, senior vice president of Fiber Solutions for the region at Zayo. “This connectivity option for H5 customers will provide them the opportunity to benefit from our fibre network and extensive connectivity across Zayo’s global network.”

H5 Data Centers’ San Antonio edge data centre is a 85,000sqft carrier hotel with access to more than 25 communications carriers and is located in one of the safest areas in the US for a data centre.

The news follows Zayo’s announcement from 2018 in which the company outlined plans to extend its fibre network in he so-called Texas Triangle, which includes Houston, San Antonio, Austin and Dallas. The two-year expansion project has seen Zayo almost triple its network footprint in Texas.

Earlier this month, Zayo announced plans to build a new long-haul fibre network between Salt Lake City, Utah and Denver, Colorado.

The route will be primarily underground, spanning more than 500 route miles along Interstate 70. Once completed, it will offer unique connectivity and diversity between Salt Lake City and Denver – at present, Zayo’s existing route connects the two cites through Wyoming and into Utah.
