The first phase of TY11 cost an estimated $70 million, delivering a capacity of 950 cabinets and colocation space of close to 39,800sqft. Once the future phases are complete the facility will offer a total capacity of more than 3,500 cabinets and colocation space of 153,800sqft – making it the largest IBX data centre in Japan.

Thanks in part to technological innovation and cloud adoption; Tokyo has become the world’s largest retail colocation market by revenue. With global and regional cloud service providers (CSPs) expanding their businesses in Japan, the country is predicted to become one of the largest geographic public cloud markets in 2019 with cloud spend to hit $7.4 billion.

With the addition of TY11, Equinix now operates a total of 11 data centers in Tokyo and two in Osaka.
