Jean-Claude Geha has left Deutsche Telekom, where he was senior VP for international technology and services delivery, to join iBasis as chief operating officer.

Geha (pictured) will lead iBasis’s global operations, engineering, IT and product development, and will report to Alexandre Pébereau, whose Tofane Global group bought iBasis from KPN in February 2019.

Pébereau is also CEO of IBasis, as the KPN-era CEO, Feddo Hazewindus, decided to leave after the takeover.

Pébereau said: “JC’s background and international expertise will enable us to further deliver on our customer experience. JC invested 25 years in developing partnerships with the best operators and digital players worldwide. He is a great addition to our executive team and iBASIS globally.”

Geha joined Deutsche Telekom, where he also chaired its Pan-Net all-IP project, as recently as June 2017, after 12 years at Ericsson, working in Sweden, the UK, France, Belgium and finally South Africa. He has also worked at MCI, Bell Canada and Telia.

For his new role he will move from Deutsche Telekom’s headquarters in Bonn to iBasis in Lexington, Massachusetts.

His responsibility will be “guiding technology integration strategy as the group pursues its M&A path”, said this morning’s statement from iBasis.

“With my extensive experience in the industry I will continue to drive the iBasis global footprint, technology offering, and focus on customer experience to achieve immediate growth, leverage greater scale, adopt new solutions, and build on global competence,” said Geha. “My intention is to ensure that we are on the best path for seamless networks, technology experience, and continuous innovation to enable our customers to be first in their respective markets, first across the globe, and first to achieve transformation.”
