Botwana Telecom revives move into mobile financial services
Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) has revived its mobile payment service, running on Comviva’s Mobiquity Money platform.
BTC wants to use to service (see picture) to develop new income streams and move into a market that is already very dynamic elsewhere in Africa.
Edward Wicks, commercial director of BTC, said the company “wants to facilitate access to financial services to improve the lives of citizens and contribute positively to economic life”. Smega will accelerate financial inclusion and economic development, he said.
“Our customers across the country will find an easy, quick and convenient way to transfer money, make payments and other financial transactions.”
Comviva says its platform “was designed to seamlessly integrate consumer touch points with a broad ecosystem of banks, billing service providers, third-party merchants and payment systems, creating convergence driven by interoperability”.
