DE-CIX and Datacenter One have formed a partnership, which will see Datacenter One offer DE-CIX services at its sites in Leverkusen, Dusseldorf and Stuttgart.

The collaboration, which comes into effect immediately, begins with Datacenter One’s facility LEV1 in Leverkusen connected to DE-CIX, and will remain in place for the foreseeable future. Further DE-CIX sites will be created in the next few years because of the partnership.

“We want to be as close to our customers as possible, which is why regional centres like Dusseldorf, Leverkusen, or Stuttgart are growing in importance for us,” said Thomas King, chief technology officer at DE-CIX. “We see tremendous potential in these German business centres and are registering high growth at all of our locations in Germany. Expansion into additional cities is therefore a logical step. Our new site in Leverkusen will supply the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region in the future; further branches are already in the implementation phase.”

All of the new Datacenter One locations will be ‘DE-CIX enabled sites’ meaning that Datacenter One will provide the data centre infrastructure while DE-CIX operates its own network infrastructure as well as the management and marketing activities.

“Our LEV1 data centre in Leverkusen is one of the most modern and energy-efficient data centres in Europe. In the future, DE-CIX will also benefit from our exceptional infrastructure,” added Wolfgang Kaufmann, managing director of Datacenter One. “In turn, the collaboration will enable us to offer our tenants additional added value and direct access to DE-CIX. We look forward to extending our strategic long-range cooperation to benefit other sites this year.”

The collaboration between the two has been designed to meet the strong demand for fast and low-cost interconnection services in additional German regions. DE-CIX is also present elsewhere in Germany with offices in Hamburg, Munich, Dusseldorf, and Berlin.

Earlier this month, DE-CIX became the first internet exchange operator to offer 400 Gigabit Ethernet (400GE) access technology to its customers.
