This latest acquisition adds a new interconnection hub in downtown Montréal, located near Cologix’s MTL3 (1250 Rene Leveque) data centre, with connectivity between the two sites and also adds hyperscale capacity data centre in Markham, ON, just outside of Toronto, designed to Tier III standards with connectivity back to Cologix’s 151 Front Street MMR. Metro Optic’s Montréal interconnection hub is a key termination point for subsea cables and over 30 carriers to the Cologix ecosystem.

In addition to adding data centre capacity the acquisition also strengthens the company’s ability to support its wholesale, carrier and hyperscale customers by providing diverse, high strand count dark fibre between their data centre campuses in Montréal and Toronto and to the multiple public cloud on-ramps that are hosted in existing Cologix owned interconnection hubs.
Cologix acquired hyperscale data centre provider, COLO-D, in December of 2018 combining a unique product of hyperscale edge capacity from their data centres with robust interconnection diversity from Cologix’s existing footprint of seven interconnection data centres throughout the city.

The news comes after Windstream Wholesale announced in January that it was expanding its core network to Cologix’s MTL3 data centre in Montréal.
