EdgeConneX has confirmed that EPIX, an independent IP traffic exchange node in Poland, has deployed a node in its Warsaw data centre.

The node enables a physical uplink to EPIX resources via 1 and 10Gb optical ports from the EdgeConneX facility.

We are honoured to support EPIX as an independent internet exchange point in our Warsaw facility,” said Dick Theunissen, managing director EMEA at EdgeConneX. “Inclusion of the EPIX node will expand the number of operators available in the data centre, which will in turn increase its availability. As a result, our customers will increase the traffic at EPIX and provide it with new content. It’s a win-win for all involved. Like our latest EMEA based announcements, the EPIX partnership is testimony to our commitment to the region and to bringing the edge to our customers.”

EdgeConneX’s customer base consists of network, content and cloud service providers that require robust solutions to support their local and latency-sensitive requirements in Central and Eastern Europe.

“This investment will help further expand the EPIX initiative while providing increased opportunities to potential members,” added Krzysztof Czuszek a member of the E-Południe Association. “This step also further solidifies EdgeConneX’s standing as a premier data center and interconnection hub in Europe. The EPIX node’s distribution has a significant impact on its availability and security and provides EPIX members with the ability to leverage new international IP resources.”

The increased adoption of hybrid cloud, data regulations and the ability to be the gateway into neighbouring countries are key drivers of demand in Europe. As a result, Warsaw is well positioned as of the digital leaders in the region. The news also aligns itself with EdgeConneX’s strategic expansion goals in the region.

At the start of the year, EdgeConneX acquired its ninth data centre facility in Munich, Germany. EdgeConneX has agreed to buy the assets at Landsberger Strasse 155, Central Munich, Germany, but would not disclose who the previous owner was or how much it was purchased for.
