Kirusa and MTN partner to launch ReachMe app
Kirusa, a global communications service provider, has partnered with MTN Zambia to launch InstaVoice ReachMe.
The solution is a roaming service for customers traveling outside of Zambia and makes MTN Zambia the first operator to deploy Kirusa’s InstaVoice ReachMe on a co-branded model.
“ReachMe is a refreshing innovation that solves a pain point for our frequent flyer audience,” said Seun Soladoye, acting chief marketing officer, MTN Zambia. “This app is an outcome of total re-thinking of roaming, and by clever integration with the cloud, drastically minimizes our costs thereby allowing us to roll out attractive roaming packages.”
ReachMe enables users to make regular phone calls using voice-over-IP (VoIP) all within the app. The solution leverages active data connections when the user is roaming, out of network coverage or on flight mode.
“Customers demand higher value, more convenience, and lower roaming rates, when traveling. ReachMe delivers on this promise with the number one network in Zambia - MTN Zambia,” added Inderpal Singh Mumick, founder and CEO, Kirusa. “I’m delighted that MTN Zambia believes in the potential of voice-over-data solutions, in the context of a world that is increasingly getting connected over cloud.”
As a result, MTN Zambia customers can making voice calls while travelling, at lower rates than traditional voice roaming packages. In addition, they can also roam where MTN Zambia has no roaming partners.
Because of the debt MTN’s share price drop 22% back in August 2018 as the sum of money would will harm MTN’s “ability to continue meeting its debt obligations, including those in the South African banking sector,” said the South African Reserve Bank (Sarb).
