In a blog post penned by Greene, she said that the mentoring would include investing in and helping female founder CEOs who have engineering or science background. Adding that she wants to “encourage every woman engineer and scientist to think in terms of building their own company someday. The world will be a better place with more female founder CEOs”.
As for her work in education Greene said that she will focus on initiatives that combine technology and face-to-face teaching to create high-quality education that is low-cost, scalable and personalised.
Stepping into Greene’s shoes is Thomas Kurian (pictured below) an industry veteran who served as president of product development at Oracle for 22 years. Kurian will enter the role 26 November and Greene will stay on through January working alongside Kurian to ensure a smooth transition. Additionally, Greene will remain a director on the Alphabet board, Google’s parent company.

Under Greene’s leadership Google Cloud has grown from having only two largescale customers and a number of startups to securing Fortune 1000 enterprises onto its platform. In addition, she oversaw the integration of sales, marketing, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Google Apps/G Suite into what is now called Google Cloud. The company also established a training and professional services organisation and helped enterprises adopt AI through its Advanced Solutions Lab.
