vXchnge has announced plans to extend its partnership with Megaport a global network-as-a-service (NaaS) provider.

Under the terms of the extended partnership, Megaport will enable vXchnge to deliver elastic interconnection and direct cloud connectivity services using software defined networking (SDN) across eight vXchnge data centres in key strategic growth markets.

“Increasingly, our customers want to deploy hybrid cloud solutions, so by incorporating Megaport’s elastic interconnection in our data centres, our customers gain choices, speed and flexibility with a secure connection to over 300  service providers,” said Ernest Sampera, CMO of vXchnge. “This enables them to choose vXchnge as the platform for their digital transformations from standalone to hybrid architectures.”

The named eight locations are Austin, Minneapolis, Nashville, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Portland, Santa Clara and St. Louis and as a result of collocating here vXchnge customers can flexibly scale bandwidth to optimise capacity so they only pay for what they use. In addition, customers can access numerous service providers over the SDN and manage direct, multicloud connectivity, on-demand using a self-serve portal.

A recent Forbes article on the fastest growing US cities found that vXchnge data centres are located in some of the swiftest growing U.S. cities including Austin, Nashville and Portland.

“We’re continuing to expand our capabilities within vXchnge data centres in key growth markets. Through vXchnge, we’re extending Megaport’s service footprint to more of the locations where enterprises are building their next generation cloud architectures in the US,” said Nicole Cooper, executive vice president of Americas, Megaport.

vXchnge customers using the Megaport ecosystem have access to rapid provisioning functionalities as well as the ability to directly connect with global cloud services providers including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, Salesforce, Oracle Cloud and Alibaba Cloud.

In August, Megaport announced a partnership with ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), to deliver SDN-enabled, elastic interconnection and cloud exchange services in STT Tai Seng 1 data centre in Singapore.
