Ciena names Jamie Jefferies as VP and GM of EMEA

Ciena has named Jamie Jefferies as its new vice president and general manager of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

An industry veteran with over 30 years’ in the sector, Jefferies will use his regional experience as well as internationally to build upon Ciena’s exiting success in EMEA, while based in Ciena’s London office.

“We always look to develop talent within the company and we’re delighted that one of our rising stars is taking on our most senior role in EMEA to develop the team and grow our operation,” said Jason Phipps, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Ciena. “I’m confident Jamie’s innovative thinking, leadership and vision for the region will help drive our continued success.”

One of Jefferies most notable achievements at Ciena has been his success while leading the Verizon account. More recently he led the Ciena team that supported Verizon’s One Network initiative, the strategy to consolidate and operate a single seamless network infrastructure, which Ciena leveraged its WaveLogic coherent optical and Packet Networking platforms.

Adding to is 30 years of telecoms experience Jefferies also has 15 years of leadership experience in both the US and Europe, spanning a number of roles including; sales, engineering, operations, project management and business development.

Prior to joining Ciena, Jefferies held several global sales and leadership positions at Nortel Networks. He led the major account teams in EMEA for Nortel Networks’ MEN division for five years and continues to lead after the Ciena acquisition for another eight years.

Jefferies replaces Keri Gilder who left the position last month to join Colt as its new chief commercial officer.
