Chayora appoints Harry Shen as new technical manager

Chayora, the Hong-Kong-based data centre infrastructure company, has named Harry Shen as its new technical manager.

Shen enters the role with more than 10 years’ experience in data centre and critical facilities design and engineering, including various projects for global data centre and multinational enterprise clients in China.

“It is with great pleasure that I join the Chayora team at such a pivotal time in the company’s journey as it nears completion of its Tianjin hyperscale data centre campus and begins construction of its second hyperscale campus, a 280MW data centre campus to serve the greater Shanghai region,” said Shen. “I look forward to contributing my capabilities and experience to Chayora’s strategy of creating advanced data centre sites in key connectivity hubs across China, enabling market access for global enterprises, major cloud, colocation and online services organisations with the same speed and reliability as they would experience anywhere else in the world.”

In his new role, Shen will work with Mike West, Chayora’s head of engineering, to coordinate the international standards to align with the best practices in China. He will continue to meet customers’ expectations in terms of data centre designs, as well as ensure the quality of technical solutions while overseeing technical procurement in China.

Shen will also find and manage project consultants, as well as organise and collaborate with key project stakeholders. The news aligns itself with Chayora’s plans to develop its new Beichen, Tianjin hyperscale data centre campus which is due to go be completed by end of the year. Once live the 300MW, 32-hectare / 80-acre campus will serve the greater Beijing region that is home to more than 150 million people in the JingJinJi mega-metropolitan area of northern China.

Before joining Chayora, Shen served as associate at DSCO Group, a building services engineering consultancy in the Asia-Pacific. For them he led the operations of the company’s Shanghai office and was responsible for business development. After this he was promoted to project manager at DSCO Group, where he lead the mechanical and electrical engineering teams for many data centre project across China, including the Citibank data centre in Guangzhou, and the Centrin Kunshan data centre campus and Equinix SH5 and SH6 data centres in Shanghai.
