DE-CIX adds two new locations in Dusseldorf

DE-CIX has announced an expansion plan for its location in Dusseldorf by adding two new data centre locations in the German city.

The German internet exchange has added two myLoc managed IT data centres "In der Steele 2" and "Am Gatherhof” as DE-CIX enabled sites. It already has a presence in Interxion in Dusseldorf.

Customers of these data centres will need a cross-connect in order to link Dusseldorf with Frankfurt, where DE-CIX holds one of its main facilities – an internet exchange with the world’s highest throughput at peak times, it claims.

At the launch of the partnership with DE-CIX, myLoc said it will offer customers these cross-connects free of charge.

Peter Hansen, CEO of myLoc managed IT said: “We are pleased to reinforce our position as an operator of carrier-independent colocation data centres through the presence of DE-CIX at our two Dusseldorf locations. As a long-standing customer of DE-CIX, we are elevating our cooperation to a new level and thus offering our customers new interconnection options right on their own doorstep."

The partnership means that myLoc customers will have access to a number of DE-CIX services including GlobePEER, GlobePEER Remote, and DirectCLOUD. It is part of DE-CIX’s expansion plans for its core German market, where it is located in five cities overall (Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, and Frankfurt).

DE-CIX chief innovation officer Dr Thomas King said: “With myLoc managed IT AG, we have found the ideal partner to drive forward our expansion in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region. The partnership with myLoc allows us to offer our product portfolio at additional locations and to thus be closer to our customers. This will allow our customers to use the services of DE-CIX even more easily and cost-effectively.”
