Colt and vXchnge to share data centre footprint in 43 markets worldwide

Colt’s data centre operation has agreed a strategic alliance with US carrier-neutral data centre operator vXchnge to allow each to share their global footprint.

Colt Data Centre Services (Colt DCS) will offer vXchnge customers the opportunity to expand their data centre operations in Colt DCS’s locations in the Asia-Pacific and Europe.

Meanwhile vXchnge will provide locations to Colt customers in US markets. The deal means customers of both companies will have access to 43 data centres worldwide.

Ernest Sampera, vXchnge CMO, said: “Colt DCS customers can accelerate their edge strategy by leveraging vXchnge data centres in strategic markets in the US for their infrastructure deployments.” He added: “vXchnge’s footprint across the US serves markets that reach over 80 million eyeballs and over one billion network-enabled devices.”

The companies said that the alliance “capitalises on numerous synergies including offering carrier-neutral services and flexible, high-performance infrastructure platforms”. They added: “The data centres are designed to afford customers and service providers the flexibility to expand capacity as they grow.”

Jackson Lee, VP of corporate development at Colt DCS, said: “Our specialist consultants work closely with our customers to ensure flexibility in their contracts offering on-demand leasing, power and bandwidth options, eradicating unnecessary colocation overheads you find with other providers.”

According to its website, vXchnge has data centres in 14 markets in the US, from Portland, Oregon and Santa Clara, California in the west to various locations in New York and New Jersey in the east. Colt DCS has 29 carrier-neutral data centres across Europe and Asia.
