Tata Com picked by Ultracast for 360° video and virtual reality content delivery
Tata Communications’ video delivery network (VDN) has been selected by streaming platform Ultracast to support it plans to expand its 360° video and virtual reality platforms.
Ultracast will use Tata’s Ultra Live VDN to bring its content, which includes live 360⁰ and VR streams of various sporting events, to customers’ smartphones, tablets and VR devices live.
Tata will underpin these VDN capabilities with its global superfast network, which includes one of the world’s most advanced Tier-1 IP networks connecting more than 240 countries and territories across 400 PoPs.

But, because there are often thousands of miles between the match or a race and the fan’s smartphone or tablet, a slow network can shatter the illusion. Our global reach lowers the barriers for Ultracast’s customers anywhere in the world to generate new revenue streams from live 360° video and VR.”
Live casting of VR and 360⁰ video content requires low latencies in order to provide an immersive, high quality experience for viewers. Ultrafast’s service creates live 360° video and VR content in motorsports series such as NASCAR, FIA World Endurance Championship, 24 Hours of Le Mans, as well as other sporting categories such as boxing, rugby and professional bull riding.
