The multi-terabit capacity network will support Telenor’s future plans for 5G mobile deployments, whilst also enhancing its ability to cope with increasing consumer demand for IP video services, and demand for cloud applications.
The next-generation optical network will feature Nokia's optical transmission technology, built on the Finnish vendor’s advanced wavelength routing. The network will offer an SDN-ready platform with which Telenor can automate, optimise and assure network services, Nokia claims.

This highly resilient and secure optical backbone will play a critical role in deploying next-generation services to Telenor customers in Norway and Sweden, and help the customer prepare for the demands of 5G."
