Neutral Path acquires Infinity Fiber, extending US footprint

Neutral Path, a provider of fibre-optic transport facilities, has announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Infinity Fiber, the fibre-optic cable manufacturer.

Infinity’s fibre network runs from Indianapolis to South Bend, Indiana, before moving west to Chicago, enabling Neutral Path to expand its network from Denver, Omaha and Minneapolis to Chicago, South Bend and Indianapolis, plus several key routes along the way.

In South Bend, the network provides connectivity through Global Access Point’s Union Station Technology Center, which offers access to world-class tenants.

Chris Jensen, director of corporate development at Neutral Path, said: “We are thrilled by the Infinity transaction and are eager to offer our unique transport benefits to our current customers and the customers in these growing markets.”

The deal comes at a time when the company is going through a period of rapid expansion. Neutral Path recently expanded its main line from the NDC data centre in Omaha to the Netrality Properties’ facility in Kansas City and then to Minneapolis and Chicago.

Kevin Smith, owner of Global Access Point and its Union Station data centre, said: “This transaction means additional connectivity opportunities for Neutral Path customers seeking to expand their business operations in the growing Chicago, South Bend and Indianapolis markets, while extending the network reach we can deliver to our data center customers. We are looking forward to a strong partnership with the Neutral Path team.”

Once completed the Infinity Fiber deal will increase Neutral Path’s fibre route by over 300 miles, bringing it to a total of 2,300 route miles and 150,000 fibre miles across eight states. The transaction is due to be completed in the third quarter of 2017, once the necessary federal and state regulatory approvals have been received.

Commenting on the news Scott Bergs, CEO of Neutral Path, said: “Infinity Fiber and Global Access Point share the Neutral Path vision of delivering the highest quality, most efficient fibre transport solutions to connect customers to key aggregation points, like Union Station. This acquisition enables us to extend the benefits of that vision to more customer locations and enables them to better deliver their products and services.”
