Tata Communications unveils Alibaba Cloud alliance

Tata Communications has partnered with e-commerce giant Alibaba’s cloud division to enable customers in over 150 countries to connect to its Cloud ExpressConnect service.

Enterprise customers will be able to use Tata’s IZO Private Connect service to link up to Alibaba Cloud’s Express Connect, which offers connection between their own networks, virtual private clouds, and the internet.

The new partnership means enterprise customers will be able to scale their cloud connectivity and enable rapid provisioning of capacity to Alibaba Cloud, which offers a range of cloud computing products across database management, networking, security, and storage that can be deployed globally.

“We look forward to working closely with Tata Communications in a bid to provide an exciting proposition with great connectivity for global enterprises wanting to enter China and for Chinese enterprises looking to go global with ease and convenience,” said Yeming Wang, deputy general manager of Alibaba Cloud Global.

Izo, Tata Comm’s cloud enablement platform, allows enterprise to connect and build private, public and hybrid cloud platforms, underpinned by the carrier’s global network.

Genius Wong, president, global network, cloud and data centre services at Tata Communications, said: “We are confident that the partnership between Alibaba Cloud and Tata Communications will assist both of us to become true digital transformation partners for our customers, empowering them to expand to new geographies, boost productivity, safeguard their businesses against threats, and take customer experience to the next level.

“We look forward to offering more global organisations connectivity to Alibaba Cloud and to strengthening our presence in the Chinese market.”
