Openreach cuts prices to wholesale customers in advance of Ofcom review

BT’s wholesale last-mile access division, Openreach, has cut the prices it charges to its retail customers, including Sky, TalkTalk and Vodafone.

The move comes in advance of the conclusion of a review by the UK regulator, Ofcom, on Openreach’s prices. The Openreach price cuts mount to 1.1%.

The new prices apply from 1 July, Openreach told media, saying the move would avoid “a lengthy legal process”. The start date of the new prices is nine months before the beginning of the new prices that would result from the Ofcom review – though the prices to be set by Ofcom will still apply when that time comes.

The savings are likely to total around £10 million across the industry.
