The exchange also saw the number of customers using 100GE ports grow by around 50% to reach 110 ports altogether.

Traffic through its service peaked in November at 5Tbps, while the year saw a 28% increase in the volume of internet traffic it handled. Overall, 9EB passed through the exchange.

Job Witteman, CEO of AMS-IX, said: “The Internet is growing rapidly. Our objective is to facilitate this growth and the exchange of (Internet) traffic.”
