EdgeConneX is latest to join Telecom Infra Project

Data centre company EdgeConneX has joined the Telecom Infra Project (TIP), the initiative co-founded by Facebook, SK Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, Intel, Nokia and others.

TIP aims to solve many of the issues associated with traditional infrastructures by working to develop an open ecosystem and enabling completely new and agile network architectures.

“We welcome the opportunity to participate in TIP and support its commitment to creating a more cost-effective and scalable network architecture,” said Clint Heiden, chief commercial officer at EdgeConneX.

“End users have an insatiable desire for content and the most efficient way to deliver it to them is by bringing the network closer to the edge.”

TIP lists 72 current members on its website, though it has not yet added EdgeConneX, including Bell Canada, Globe Telecom, Telia and Vodafone as well as the founders.

“In the age of the internet of everywhere, EdgeConneX’s mission of enabling edge-of-network infrastructure solutions that extend the internet’s reach aligns perfectly with TIP’s vision of a more agile network architecture,” said Heiden.

The company said it offers TIP a knowledge base and depth of experience in creating edge network infrastructure solutions.
