The announcement, made at Capacity Europe, means traditional DE-CIX services, such as GlobePEER will be able to be booked alongside MetroVLAN from a single access.
The German company said it will use the new service model to facilitate the introduction of new products, services and features on its Apollon Platform.
It also means that, in future, customers will not need an Autonomous System Number (ASN) to take advantage of services. DE-CIX claims this new model will simplify the process for its customers.
“Through separating access and service, we are taking an essential step from being a pure peering platform to becoming an interconnection and service platform, and with this we are placing ourselves in an optimal position for the coming years,” says Harald A. Summa, CEO of DE-CIX, on the new service strategy.
The new service model will become available at all DE-CIX locations world-wide in the course of the year.
