UPN expands fibre network in Dallas Fort Worth area

US fibre operator UPN is expanding its network in the Dallas Fort Worth area of Texas, to deliver services at up to 100Gbps in the city of Frisco.

The company – which is part-owned by Cox Communications, despite its official name, Unite Private Networks – already has an 800-mile fibre network in the Dallas Fort Worth area, said regional sales director James Edison.

“Frisco is growing at a rapid rate, and as companies continue to move into the area the need for more advanced connectivity options and robust bandwidth grows,” said Edison.

UPN operates a 6,200 route mile fibre network that connects to 3,750 on-net buildings across 20 mainly central states in the US.

“Our metro fibre delivers Ethernet, dark fibre, internet, wavelengths, and custom-built options to ensure flexible solutions that meets mission critical needs,” added Edison.

Cable operator Cox Communications invested in UPN in July 2016, in a strategic investment alongside Ridgemont Equity Partners and the company’s management team.

UPN CEO Kevin Anderson said at the time: “Our relationship with Cox and Ridgemont will provide UPN with access to capital and an ability to leverage strategic insights and capabilities in order to accelerate our growth over the long-term. We are better positioned than ever to meet the growing demand among our customers for high-bandwidth fibre infrastructure solutions.”
