Sky launches SNS Wholesale division with high-capacity Ethernet offer

Sky has entered the UK B2B telecoms space with the launch of its SNS Wholesale division, and has partnered with internet service provider (ISP) Fluidata to bring a high-capacity Ethernet offering to market.

Fluidata informed Capacity that it has been in talks for one year with Sky to prepare for the launch, which will see the independent telecoms carrier work with SNS Wholesale to deliver Ethernet solutions, which will utilise Sky’s nationwide telecoms network, to businesses up and down the UK. It will also provide the support team and customer service.

“This is an exciting opportunity to work with Fluidata to deliver a brand new service to the UK marketplace,” said Graham Sargood, Sky’s director of telecoms wholesale.

“Our investment in our telecoms infrastructure to deliver voice, video and data services to our residential customer base will enable us to use this highly resilient national network to also serve the business marketplace with an ability to reach over 95% of businesses in the UK. Fluidata is the ideal partner to begin these services with.”

All services will be mapped across the Sky core network before being delivered to the Fluidata network via a highly resilient solution, offering automatic re-routing of traffic against incidents, and all services will be available with SLA+. Fluidata has a service exchange platform which provides Layer-2 access to a wide range of tier-1 connectivity carriers across the UK and Europe.

Piers Daniell, managing director of Fluidata, added: “Customers choosing to commit to long-term high capacity connections strengthen the growth potential in their businesses. It is only through Sky’s significant investment in the consumer market that we can push 1Gbps connections as standard and ensure customer connectivity is truly future-proof.”

The new high-capacity Ethernet solutions can be ordered from Fluidata, for both the direct and partner markets, from today and offers available at launch include free installation and activation, worth £2,500, and an extra 50Mbps of bandwidth free with 100Mbps or 200Mbps service.
