Telecom Italia is allegedly taking to the courts to challenge the terms of an agreement it signed with Sky in 2014 to provide the media group's channels over its IPTV network, Milano Finanza reported.
Milano Finanza, which did not name its source, said that a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for the 5th December 2016 at which Telecom Italia will be calling for a reduction in the minimum numbers of annual clients it is required to provide under the deal. At the moment Telecom Italia has to provide a minimum of 65,000
Under the agreement, signed in April 2014, Telecom Italia fibre customers can access Sky's channels via a dedicated My Sky HD decoder and receive content, services and pricing equivalent to the satellite offer.
The offer, which launched in April 2015, was specifically targeted at potential subscribers in Italy's many historical city centres who are prohibited by law from installing satellite dishes.
