GlobeNet enhances Brazilian IP and IaaS services

Wholesale provider GlobeNet has launched improved IP transit delivery and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) services in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The Americas capacity provider has delivered the services by accessing internet exchange points (IXPs), known as Pontos de Troca de Tráfego (PTTs) in Brazil, which reduces costs by eliminating the need for third-party networks, allowing traffic balances to be resolved directly and locally. Network providers gain greater control, allowing them to route traffic as close to the desired destination as possible.

"Carriers and ISPs need to present additional value to their customers in order to stand out in the competitive global telecommunications market," said Eduardo Falzoni, chief commercial officer of GlobeNet. "By accessing IXP/PTTs in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, customers benefit from improved service quality, better performance and improved control of the service."

GlobeNet’s IP service provides direct, high performance internet connectivity at speeds ranging from 50Mbps to 10Gbps, with zero over-subscription and rapid scalability.

Through its global international internet exchange (GNIIX) service, internet service providers (ISPs) can access content and advertise their networks at the most relevant IXPs via a local connection managed by the customer, with scalability up to 10Gbps.

As a result of IaaS being in high demand, GlobeNet is expanding its colocation facilities in Rio de Janeiro and a virtual router is available for ISPs and carriers that have or want to establish a point of presence (PoP) in Equinix’s SP2 data centre in Sao Paulo.

Both IXPs are managed by CGI.br, which creates and promotes the necessary infrastructure for direct interconnection between autonomous systems in Brazil.
