Airtel partners with Microsoft to launch Connexion

Bharti Airtel has expanded its cloud services portfolio with the launch of Connexion, which leverages Microsoft’s Azure ExpressRoute connection for direct private connectivity.

The Indian provider’s Connexion platform seeks to maximise network performance over cloud to deliver enhanced private connection between enterprises, cloud service providers, and data centre partners.

“Over the years, at Airtel, we have been serving a vast array of global customers through our world class technology and innovative connectivity solutions,” said Ajay Chitkara, director and CEO of global business at Bharti Airtel.

“We are excited to further expand our value proposition for them with the launch of our ‘Connexion’.

The Azure ExpressRoute connection doesn’t utilise public internet and Airtel states that it offers more reliability, faster speeds, lower latencies and higher security than typical internet connections.

Yousef Khalidi, distinguished engineer, networking at Microsoft Azure, added: “Enterprises are increasingly leveraging the power of cloud to empower their workforces and Microsoft is expanding its service for India and global customers.” He adds that this partnership is “a major step in this direction and we hope to bring in an integrated and seamless experience for our mutual customers”.
