Verizon deal expands to all AMX-IX markets

Verizon Digital Media Services is to expand its services from AMS-IX in Amsterdam to other AMS-IX locations, starting with Hong Kong.

The deal, announced on day two of International Telecoms Week, will allow Verizon Digital Media Services to expand its presence from the AMS‐IX platform in Amsterdam to all AMS‐IX internet exchanges in markets where already has a presence.

“Our partnership with AMS‐IX is a demonstration of our commitment to providing a better experience for internet users around the world,” says Rob Peters, CTO of Verizon Digital Media Services. “With our presence at numerous AMS‐IX internet exchanges, we are able to provide faster and more reliable services to our customers, ensuring high‐quality user experiences on our content delivery network.

Job Witteman, CEO at AMS‐IX, added: “Verizon Digital Media Services has been a valuable and long‐term member of our peering platform in Amsterdam. As a major content delivery network and leader in the digital media space, they bring key content to internet exchanges, contributing to their growth and the performance of the internet in general.”

Verizon’s expansion to other AMS‐IX locations “shows the trust they have in our business model”, said Witteman.

AMS‐IX is a neutral, non-profit and independent internet exchange based in Amsterdam. Business internet traffic at AMS‐IX has a peak of more than 4.5 Tbps and it interconnects close to 800 IP networks, making it the largest internet exchange in the world.

MS‐IX manages two additional internet exchanges outside the Netherlands: AMS‐IX Hong Kong and AMS‐IX Caribbean on Curaçao. AMS‐IX’s subsidiary company AMS‐IX USA manages AMS‐IX Bay Area, AMS‐IX Chicago and AMS‐IX New York in the US.
