Philippe Vallée to take over as Gemalto's new CEO in September 2016

Gemalto has announced that its CEO Olivier Piou will retire from the company in August 2016, with present COO Philippe Vallée expected to assume his position.

The company’s board of directors will present Vallée as the next CEO and executive director of the board effective September 1, 2016 at its annual general meeting of shareholders. Piou, who has served as the company’s CEO for 12 years since its IPO, will continue to serve as non-executive director of the company at the same time.

"The board is delighted to have someone of Philippe Vallée's experience and leadership within Gemalto to appoint to the role of CEO,” said Alex Mandl, chairman of Gemalto.

“Philippe Vallée's strong business acumen and superior management skills across a range of senior executive roles make him an excellent CEO candidate, highly qualified to take the company forward. The board looks forward to working with Philippe and the entire Gemalto team, suppliers and customers to continue to build on the strong momentum that has been created over the past years."
