BICS claims that via its IPX platform, its operator customers can now provide their subscribers with high quality data roaming with more than 325 operators worldwide.
“2015 was a pivotal year for data roaming with operators around the world continuing to adopt and promote 4G,” said Mikaël Schachne, VP of mobile data business at BICS.
“End users have enthusiastically embraced data roaming services in the last 12 months, driven by price reductions and the availability of higher-bandwidth services, through LTE.”
2015 saw the launch of LTE roaming in the US, Italy, Morocco, Iceland and the Seychelles among others, with double-digit growth of the service allegedly reported each month of last year.
“In the upcoming year, BICS anticipates international LTE usage will continue to expand as a greater number of operators roll out 4G services across the world, with a heavy focus on growth in the African and Middle Eastern markets,” Schachne added.
In February 2015, Swisscom and BICS teamed up to deploy data roaming services on national Swiss railway operator SBB and later in March 2015, BICS expanded its LTE roaming agreement with Qatari operator Ooredoo.
