Altice to increase fibre investments in France and Portugal

Altice said it will increase the pace of its fibre build-out in France and Portugal as part of its strategic focus on fibre infrastructure.

“With these accelerated network investments, the Altice Group will maintain its market leading positions in fibre in both France and Portugal and will actively contribute to the development and competitiveness of the two countries,” said the company.

In France, Altice Group aims to reach 12 million homes passed by the end of 2017, 18 million homes passed by 2020 and 22 million homes passed by 2022. At the end of Q3 2015 Numericable-SFR’s fibre network passed in 7.4 million homes. 

In Portugal, the group has set a target to build out fibre to an additional 3 million households and businesses over the next five years, at a rate of 600,000 homes each year which indicated a target of 5.3 million fibre homes passed by 2020. PT Portugal’s fibre network passed 2.3 million fibre homes at the end of Q3 2015.
