Ball has served at the board in that capacity since May 2006. He is also the joint deputy chairman, senior independent director, chairman of the remuneration committee and a member of the audit and nomination committees.
Ball was previously group finance director for 3i Group until November 2008 as well as non-executive director and chairman of the audit committee of Tribal Group until May 2014.
He has held senior finance and operational roles over 15 years at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson and Robert Fleming Group and served as director general of finance for the UK government's department for constitutional affairs.
Ball will be succeeded as chair of remuneration committee by Mark Hamlin.
