Interoute to acquire Easynet

Interoute has reached an agreement to acquire global managed services provider Easynet for an enterprise value of £402 million.

The acquisition is said to expand Interoute’s networked cloud and communications services to enterprises.

It will provide access to Easynet’s enterprise, government and service provider customers, as well as its range of cloud and unified communications services.

The combined entity aims to establish itself as a leading ICT provider in Europe.

"These are exciting times for Interoute and our customers as we create a leading, independent European ICT provider. It's the next step in our acquisition strategy and moves us much closer to our goal of being the provider of choice to Europe’s digital economy," said Gareth Williams, Interoute's CEO.

The move follows a busy 2015 for Interoute, with the operator completing deployment of two trans-Pacific routes between Los Angeles, US and Hong Kong at the end of August. This follows the deployment of numerousVirtual Data Centre (VDC) zones across Europe, Asia and North America.
