No sale for Slovenia Telekom before September

Slovenia is unlikely to reach a decision on the sale of state-owned Telekom Slovenia before the summer holidays, a state secretary at the finance ministry told local reporters.

In Slovenia, summer holidays end on September 1, and Metod Dragonja allegedly said that talks with British private equity firm Cinven – the only bidder – were continuing.

Cinven initially offered approximately €130 per Telekom share, valuing the entire company at €850 million.

Last month, Cinven altered its offer which Slovenia then rejected, but the British firm has confirmed its interest in Telekom Slovenia.

“Cinven remains interested in the privatisation of Telekom Slovenia and is open to re-evaluate the situation in the coming weeks,” the company said.

Telekom Slovenia has refused to comment, Reuters reports.
