Telecom Egypt to receive 4G mobile licence in 2016

Telecom Egypt is set to acquire a 4G mobile licence next year, according to the country’s telecoms minister.

The government approved Telecom Egypt's unified landline and mobile telecoms licence in September last year, giving it the right to offer services over its rivals' mobile networks.

"It is expected that the licence will be given to the company during 2016," said telecoms minister Khaled Ali Negm.

In May 2015 the Egyptian government appointed Osama Yasin as CEO and Mohamed Salem as chairman after its dismissal of previous CEO Mohamed El-Nawawy.
