Telekom Austria Group’s CEO resigns

Hannes Ametsreiter has resigned as CEO of Telekom Austria Group.

He will leave his position on July 31 2015, ending a 19 year career at the company. Taking over as CEO in April 2009, Ametsreiter oversaw the launch of A1 Telekom Austria, which successfully merged two separate businesses for fixed and mobile. The convergence strategy was also deployed in six other of Telekom Austria Group’s markets.

"On behalf of the supervisory board I would like to express our thanks to Hannes Ametsreiter for running the business through quite challenging times, also in the transition phase of Telekom Austria Group becoming an affiliate of América Movíl,” said Wolfgang Ruttenstorfer, chairman of the supervisory board at Telekom Austria Group.

“His work is also well recognised internationally and the strong market position, which Telekom Austria Group has gained under his guidance, deserves appreciation.”

The supervisory board are yet to begin discussions on his successor.
