Ooredoo and BICS expand LTE roaming agreement

Ooredoo and BICS have expanded a long-standing partnership which will see the Qatari operator offer LTE roaming services using BICS’ IPX platform.

The agreement will enable Ooredoo customers to access LTE roaming services around the world, while allowing incoming roamers in Qatar to use Ooredoo’s network to access data services.

It builds on long-standing partnership between the two carriers, which includes connectivity, voice, messaging and roaming services.

“We are excited to further enhance the quality of roaming services we offer to customers both when they are within the Middle East and while elsewhere in the world,” said Yousuf Abdulla Al-Kubaisi, CEO at Ooredoo Global Services (OGS). “Our subscribers have come to expect high-speed data services at home, throughout the region and while travelling around the world and this agreement will ensure we can deliver on those high expectations.”

BICS’ IPX platform offers LTE roaming services in over 75 countries around the world, covering markets in EMEA, North America and APAC.

“Offering the highest data speeds to mobile consumers around the Middle East is an imperative for operators in the region. By utilising the BICS IPX platform to enable LTE roaming, Ooredoo has demonstrated its dedication to meeting the demand for LTE data wherever its customers are,” said Denis Souillart, MD for BICS Middle East.
