The move is said to deliver API management to help scale and connect applications to multiple clouds in the exchange.
Apigee’s platform is also said to help simplify the complex process of provisioning and management connections to various cloud services and networks.
"The near-real-time connectivity in the Equinix Cloud Exchange is grounded in APIs, so we needed robust API management that can support heavy traffic loads," said Brian Lillie, Equinix’s CIO. "With its proven API management and strong analytics, Apigee stood out as a clear choice. Working with Apigee has allowed us to provide developers a strong foundation to accelerate our innovation in the cloud."
Launched in May 2014, the Equinix Cloud Exchange brings together an ecosystem of leading cloud services, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
Last June, it expanded the reach of the exchange across Asia-Pacific.
